Great Books, Great Workshop

Imagine being in a room filled with the best books written for children and teens in the past year, and people talking excitedly about them. If you were at the IFLS/CESA 10 Great Books workshop last week, you know how fun that can be!

We had an entertaining series of booktalks about selections from CCBC Choices by Cooperative Children's Book Center librarians Carling Febry, Merri Lindgren and Megan Schliesman, along with time to examine the books. If you don't know about CCBC Choices or can't find your copy of the 2010 version, please contact me and I will be glad to get you another one!

In the afternoon, we were entertained by the lively and hilarious Kathleen Baxter, who inspired many to booktalk nonfiction--especially disgusting nonfiction! Georgia Jones, Come Into Delight blogger, wrote about it here and here. If you weren't there and you want to take a look at the handouts and book list, you can find them on the Continuing Education page of the IFLS website under Workshop Handouts.
